Obituary - Harriet Melvina (BLOOD) STEVENS

MRS. HARRIET STEVENS IS CLAIMED BY DEATH AT AGE OF 66 YEARS
PIONEER MARSHALL COUNTY WOMAN SUCCUMBS IN CHICAGO; FUNERAL HELD HERE

Mrs. Harriet Stevens, a resident of Marshall county for more than forty-four years died at the home of her son, Irving Stevens, in Chicago on Friday, July 3, after an illness extending over a period of several months. She was 66 years, 7 months and 2 days of age at the time of her death.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Harriet Melvina Blood, was a daughter of William Morton and Elizabeth Melvina (Weir) Blood, and was born at Winona, Minn., on Dec 1, 1864, and the early years of her life were spent there.

In the fall of 1887, following the death of her mother, she moved to Marshall county and made her home her ever since. She was united in marriage to Albert DeWitt Stevens on Mar. 5, 1891, and to this union were born four children, two of whom survive. They are Irving Weir Stevens, formerly of Henry, now of Chicago, and Otis Fred Stevens of Columbus, Ohio. Emaline Faith Stevens died on Aug. 6, 1908, and Albert Clinton Stevens died on Jan. 26 1908.

Her husband preceded her in death, Sept. 9, 1917.

Besides her two sons, she is survived by four grandchildren, Retha Crumline Stevens, Dorothy Stevens and Aureola Vida Stevens, children of Mr. and Mrs. Irving Stevens; and Robert Otis Stevens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Stevens. She is also survived by one nephew, William Frederick Blood of Peoria.

Relatives from a distance attending the last rites were Harvey Camery and his daughter's family and Miss Nora Camery of Kewanee, William F. Blood and mother of Peoria and numerous other relatives and friends from the surrounding vicinity.
