John F. Camery, whose death was noticed in our last issue as dying in Kewanee last Sunday, was the eldest son of Christian Camery, who was for many years a resident of Saratoga township, settling there in the early fifties and living there till his death. Three of his brothers and sisters are now living in Henry, I. W. and Elisha Camery and Mrs. Fred Raymond.
John F. Camery was born in Harrisburg, (?error-probably Harrisonburg in Rockingham County) Virginia, Aug. 7, 1822, and was consequently over 74 years of age. He has been a member of the M. E. church since 1854 and has been faithful in his attendance upon church duties and active in all good works. He leaves a wife, six sons, and three daughters. The funeral services were held in the home at 4:30 p.m., Rev. J. H. Scott officiating, and early Wednesday morning the remains were brought to the Sugar Grove cemetery to be laid beside father, mother, two brothers and a sister. Short services were also held at the cemetery for the friends here, by Rev. David McLeish of the M. E. church. Mr. Camery was for several years a resident of that town and was well known as a quiet unassuming, industrious man, having the respect of all who knew him.
