There was a quiet wedding at the home of Hon E. W. Houghton last Thursday evening the contracting parties being his daughter, Miss Blanche, and Mr George A. McClintock. THe ceremony occurred about nine o'clock and was performed by Rev H. K. Painter, pastor of the Congregational church. Only relatives were present. The bride is an estimable and accomplished young lady and is held in high esteem by all who know her. THe groom is assistant cashier in the bank of L. M. Yocum & Co., and is a worthy young man. - Galva Standard.
Mrs. R. O. Hall, while waiting in the Illinois Central depot at Wenona one day last week, suddenly expired. She was an estimable lady, wife of Ross, O. Hall.
We are sorry to hear of the sad accident that occurred to Miss Annie Monihan while crossing the Santa Fe near La Rose, the train struck her rig killing her horse and demolishing her buggy. - Journal.
John B. Thompson celebrated his 57th birthday last Sunday. Few men have lived a more active life than Mr. Thompson, and yet hard work and time have not made him an old man, by any means. Hundreds of friends join in wishing him health and many years of usefulness. - Democrat.

Whitefield Center. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Wable are the proud parents of a
fine young son, who came to take up abode with them.
Ethel Willis left
for Eureka last Friday, having received word that her grandfather Vandyke
was quite poorly. She expected to find her father and mother there.
Norton Moffit returned home from Long Point last Tuesday, his sister Ruth
having died the Saturday before and was buried on Monday. She was a good,
true woman with a kind and loving disposition, who leaves many friends and
relatives who deeply mourn her loss; but most of all her sister Lydia, who
has been so faithful to watch over and care for her all through the years of
suffering, and who was willing to sacrifice health, strength and even life
if she could do for this one whom she loved so dearly, and she has the
deepest sympathy of our people.
